NEW WEBINARS NEW! Section 125 Cafeteria Plan Regulations: February 13, March 20 On August 3rd the IRS released new Section 125 Cafeteria Plan proposed regulations. These new rules replace all previous guidance issued by the IRS since the 1980's. This session will cover the details of these important new rules and is presented by Bob Radecki. Bob has provided consulting services to Section 125 administrators nationwide and founded DBSI, a cafeteria plan administrator that was acquired by a national TPA. These sessions will fill fast so register today! Quarterly Compliance Update: February 7 We will cover regulations that have changed in the prior quarter that may impact your company. Rhode Island mandatory health benefits effective July 1, 2009. Updates on employer comparable contributions to HSAs. State military and other leave law updates for Indiana, Maine, and New York. Understanding the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA): On Request Do you or your staff need a refresher on the Age Discrimination in Employment Act? Are you aware that some state laws are more restrictive than federal law? Learn who is covered, how the law impacts your employment and hiring practices, and how some courts have interpreted some aspects of the law. Also learn how some state laws may impact your employment practices and ADEA. COBRA and Notice Requirements: March 6 Even though COBRA has been around for years, the steady stream of COBRA lawsuits show that employers still struggle to properly comply. Now employers also face a new set of notice requirements in the Medicare Part D rules. This session will help you sort out your part in these compliance and notice obligations. Even if you use administrators to help you comply with these rules, you need to understand your organization's role to effectively comply. Medicare Part D: February 27 What a plan administrator should know about Medicare Part D: What are the notice requirements? What are the elements a model notice should contain? What should your policies contain? Who should receive a notice? We will cover the basics of Medicare Part D for a plan administrator. NEW! Expansion of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA): February 28 Expansion of FMLA by National Defense Authorization Act: January 28, President Bush signed into law the first expansion of the FMLA since it became law 15 years ago. The DOL plans to issue regulations soon, but until then employers are required to act in good faith in attempting to comply with the law. The changes included in the newly enacted National Defense Authorization Act expand FMLA rights in two principal situations: (1) Employees are entitled to up to twenty-six weeks of leave to care for seriously injured or ill relatives who are military service members. (2) Employees who experience "any qualifying exigency" arising from their immediate family member being called to active military duty are entitled to up to twelve weeks of leave. Attend this webinar to learn how to comply including: (a) Who qualifies for 26 weeks of leave including the definition of "next of kin"; (b) What qualifies as a "serious injury or illness; (c) Who qualifies for 12 weeks of leave for any "qualifying exigency"; and (d) Which rules are effective immediately.
